Opened in 2023, the Whitianga Medical Centre is a modern, purpose-built facility developed by Hopper Developments to support the growing needs of the Mercury Bay community. Located in the heart of Whitianga, this new centre consolidates the services of the long-standing Mercury Bay Medical Centre and is designed with future expansion in mind.
Stage One - Now Open
The first stage of the medical centre includes:
- A fully equipped emergency room
- Dedicated ambulance bay for efficient patient transfer
- GP and nursing services, providing day-to-day primary healthcare for the community
Stage Two - Future Expansion
Over the coming years, the medical centre will grow to include additional health and wellbeing services, creating a comprehensive local
healthcare hub. Proposed facilities and services include:

- Radiology and mammography
- District Health Board (DHB) services
